Cecilia Olsson Director
I have been the Director of the Program since 2002. I have my Ph.D. in Dance from the University of Lund. Performing Arts have always been a core part in my life, both as performer and as part of an audience. Nowadays mostly as the onlooker… When given the time I enjoy playing the Mignon (small size grand piano) who a friend has left in my care. To my big surprise I last year found out I got a new attention: gardening. Spending time in our summerhouse has made me take pleasure in plants and flowers. It is great to be able to switch between urban and country life. I consider myself a privileged person who has got many opportunities to travel, to live and work in foreign countries, meeting many exciting personalities. I hope my curiosity and my interest in the world never will fade so I will learn something new every day. |

Carina Kamb Deiaco Program Coordinator
I have been with the Program since 1989, except for the five years I lived in Luxembourg. I was our Housing Coordinator at first, finding all our host families. But now as Program Coordinator, I am responsible for administrative and organizational work. I also find our apartments. I really enjoy my job, especially meeting the students. Every student has their own little quirk. It is fun meeting so many different personalities. And of course, I find it rewarding to help our students adjust to a new culture and the Swedish way of doing things.
In terms of interests and hobbies, I enjoy family activities, traveling, yoga, and wine. I also am good at sports, especially throwing the ax!! You must join us for our Gotland trip to see for yourself! |

Roscoe Williams Student Advisor
I went to Modern Soul Academy (High School) (Fryshuset)
I think it is rewarding interacting our students and being a part of a life time experience.
My biggest interest is music. I play the piano, but not as well as I would like, I am a much stronger vocalist. I have opened for Swedish Super Star Robyn and I have sung with The Temptations (the most successful act to record for Motown Records). I randomly bumped into them one night in a club in Stockholm. Later we shared a taxi since their hotel was in the same direction as my home. Growing up loving Soul and Rn´B, this was a huge night in my world. These guys are legends.
Apart from my love for music, I love anything that gives me a challenge. |

I teach the following courses: The Theory and History of Radical Politics; Health Care in Sweden and the U.S.; Comparative Study of Swedish Politics: History and Contemporary Issues; and Crime and Punishment in Sweden and the U.S.
Education: B.A., Political Science, University of Hawaii, 1997 Ph.D., Political Science, University of Maryland, 2004
Current Research Interests: I study how the built environment molds relations of power. This happens in many different ways: in how the space itself is configured—for example, with walls that separate one group from another—as well as in how the space is monitored or how resources or people are distributed within the space. My current project uses the specific case of roads to look at the relationship between built space and power.
Hobbies: I enjoy hiking and camping, and generally spending time in the great outdoors. And since I feel more at home in water than on land, I also try to spend as much time as I can in water—primarily swimming, but also kayaking, fishing, and doing other watersports.
Personal Trivia: I once got second place in a completely rigged sports/trivia/beauty pageant competition for a variety show on British television. |
